Lampedusa: 7,000 migrants arrive on Italian island in three days – BBC News





7,000 people arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa in small boats – in just three days.

The island is home to only 6,000 people – and only has space for an additional 400.

The Italian deputy prime minister has described the situation as an “act of war”.
