Vadim Stroykin, a Russian singer-songwriter who has spoken out against the war in Ukraine, “fell” out of a window while security officials were raiding his apartment on Thursday, according to the human rights project OVD-Info. He reportedly died on the scene.
Russian media reported that law enforcement officers visited Stroykin’s home in connection with a criminal case against him for allegedly donating money to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“During the investigation, the man made an excuse to go to a different room, where he quickly opened a window and took an irreversible action,” the Telegram channel Mash na Moike reported, implying that Stroykin died by suicide.
The Russian Investigative Committee has reportedly launched an investigation into Stroykin’s death.
In 2022, Stroykin criticized Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in a post on the social media site VKontakte.
