Elsbeth Season 2: Elsbeth Is Rocking Fire-Proof Pink Against All These Hot Firemen

Elsbeth Season 2: Elsbeth Is Rocking Fire-Proof Pink Against All These Hot Firemen

For all of Elsbeth‘s amazing aspects and layers, romance is the one facet of the storytelling that always seems to be missing.

Sure, the series has crimes of passion, but that’s more about tragic love endings. We’re here to talk about the more whimsical side of intimacy that matches our pastel-colored protagonist.

You’d think the titular character would be on the prowl looking for a partner, if for no other reason than to always have someone around to talk to.

Sadly, Elsbeth seems to have resigned herself to the idea that she is going to be a spinster whose purpose is to make everyone else’s lives pinker.

This is why it’s a shock that she hasn’t taken advantage of these firemen who can’t seem to get enough of the red-headed beauty. Seriously, how are we just now finding out that Elsbeth is catnip for those who fight fires?

There wasn’t a single mention of the magic spell that Miss Tascioni casts on these unsuspecting hunks in Elsbeth Season 1.

More to the point, why isn’t Elsbeth giving any of these eligible bachelors the time of day? Last I checked, it was her knees, not her eyes, that she has issues with, right?

There’s A Fine Line Between Creepy and Charming, with It All Coming Down to How Hot Elsbeth Finds The Fireman

This recent development first came to light on Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 2. That was the one with the rich people at space camp until the murderer got jealous of the victim and burned the guy alive. What a fun show.

The victim wasn’t the only thing heating up either. Due to the nature of the killing, the NYPD called in the FDNY for a little PDA, if you know what I mean.

I’m talking about John Behlmann’s (The Gilded Age) Fire Marshal, Jake Turling. That tall glass of water was handsome as hell and not at all subtle about how he felt towards Elsbeth.

Sure, his lack of subtlety was a little creepy, but who cares when a face like that is staring back at you?

Granted, maybe Elsbeth didn’t want to mix business and pleasure, but that’s no excuse for throwing that marlin back into the ocean.

If you’re anything like this TV Fanatic and want to see more of Behlmann, you can catch him as Arthur Adams on Riverdale.

For soap opera enthusiasts, you can see him playing Dr. Burke on All My Children. Find him where you can because I doubt we’ll see his handsome face on Elsbeth again.

Electrocuted Men Experiencing Impalement from Reindeer Antlers Is Shocking, But Ignoring a Group of Hot Firemen Doing Pushups Is Unacceptable

You may think, “Oh, Elsbeth just wasn’t prepared for that first fireman, and she’ll be ready to flirt with the next one.” Well, you would be wrong with a side of “What is Elsbeth thinking?”

In all fairness, Elsbeth had a lot on her plate when the second round of firemen debuted on Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 6, “Gold, Frankincense, and Murder.”

That would be the one where the Christmas couple husband electrocutes himself and then reindeer antlers impale him. At least we can say the Elsbeth writers never phone it in.

However, the level of firemen matched the episode’s campy energy to the point that it felt like everyone would break out in song at any moment.

Particularly, the scene where Stephen Mark Lukas’s (Gossip Girl) Fire Marshal Lee Sparks (hilarious campy name) is trying his hardest to hit on Elsbeth.

If you recall, all the while Sparks is busy putting his moves on our red-headed sleuth, the other firemen can be seen in the background doing pushups and making eyes at Elsbeth.

It was an all-you-can-eat buffet of some of New York City’s bravest public servants, and Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) acted like she was on a master cleanse.

I still can’t believe she didn’t try for a single one of the many very fit and fine-looking young men who were literally lining up for her.

And don’t bother getting attached to Fire Marshal Sparks. We probably won’t be seeing much of him again, either.

Stephen Mark Lukas might appear more often if he continues down the broadcast television road. He just starred on FBI: Most Wanted.

Maybe the only thing all these guys are missing is an out-of-country area code since that seems to be a factor Elsbeth considers.

The Scottish Accent Is Pretty Hot, but Even That’s Not Enough to Keep Elsbeth’s Interests Afloat

Some might say one fireman was just luck, and two might be a coincidence, but everyone would agree that three firemen in one season is a pattern.

At this point, you have to wonder, “Is Elsbeth getting in her own way when it comes to finding love? Does she even want to find romance?”

Well, a few pieces of evidence answer those questions. For one, we know Elsbeth has found love in the past because she has an ex-husband and an adorable adult son.

We also know that the titular character is a little bit of a freak, having stated, “Lawyers always end up having sex on their desks, and you never see the stapler until it’s too late,” on Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 4.

Finally, “Tiny Town” answers how Elsbeth feels about romance when Miss Tascioni meets Angus Doyle.

Now, there was a lot about Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 11 that left many audience members scratching their heads at the questionable choices for the story.

For one, the time zones in Scotland and New York City were always the same, no matter the time of day.

Then there was the overuse of cliches like Scotland is overrun with sheep. That didn’t sit too well with a few readers across the ocean.

Personally, my biggest issue with Angus (Ioan Gruffudd) was that he turned out to be a fireman in the end but not a local one with whom Elsbeth could easily date and start a relationship.

No, the one man, specifically a fireman, with whom Elsbeth develops an instant connection, has to live over 3000 miles away.

I’m happy Miss Tascioni (briefly) found love, but at some point, she has to start looking closer to home for it.

Also, I hope this answers any questions about why Teddy asked if Angus was a fireman on Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 12.

As much as I love Elsbeth, despite her obsession with bucket hats, it would be great if she had something going on in her own life rather than just celebrating everyone else’s.

What do you think about Elsbeth being catnip for firemen?

Should the series bring back any of the other firemen?
