Demon City Trailer

“You’re the demon of Shinjo!” Netflix has debuted the full official trailer for a new live-action manga film called Demon City, ready to view streaming on Netflix later this month. It’s based on the Japanese manga series Oni Goroshi by Masamichi Kawabe about a hitman out for revenge. “Killing isn’t enough when there’s hell to pay.” Demon City stars Toma Ikuta, who moved audiences to tears with his role in the Netflix series Beyond Goodbye. This time around, he plays the violent hitman Shuhei Sakata, who swears to avenge his beloved wife and daughter. Sakata fights an organization of strange masked criminals who control the city of Shinjo from the shadows. What awaits him is a truth that threatens to completely alter his destiny… This also stars Matsuya Onoe, Masahiro Higashide, Masanobu Takashima, Ami Touma, Taro Suruga, and Mio Tanaka. The manga is hyper violent and so is this film – this trailer doesn’t hold back on featuring some of the extreme violence & gore as Sakata relentlessly battles these masked murderers. Take ’em down.

Just as the hitman Shuhei Sakata (Tôma Ikuta) is about to clean up his act for his family, the mysterious organization Kimen-gumi murders his wife & daughter, pinning the blame on him and sullying his name. Shot in the head, he miraculously survives but falls into a coma. 12 years later, the Kimen-gumi attacks him again, but his dormant killer instinct awakens, setting him on an epic course of revenge. However, what awaits him is a truth that threatens to completely alter his destiny. Demon City, also known as Oni Goroshi or 鬼ゴロシ in Japanese, is written and directed by Japanese filmmaker Seiji Tanaka, making his second feature after directing the film Melancholic previously. Based on the manga by Masamichi Kawabe. Produced by Yasuhiro Masaoka & Takeshi Sawa. Made by Amuse & Digital Frontier. Netflix debuts Tanaka’s Demon City film streaming on Netflix worldwide starting on February 27th, 2025. Who wants to watch?
