Disturbing images from Poltava revealed the aftermath of an attack that leveled regular apartment blocks, resulting in fires and rubble strewn across once inhabited areas.
The onslaught from Vladimir Putin, which instigated blackouts across various regions, followed shortly after Donald Trump‘s declaration in the Oval Office of ongoing negotiations with Moscow, reports the Mirror US.
President Trump said: “We are having very serious discussions about that war, trying to get it ended.”
When asked if he had conversed directly with Putin, Trump replied: “I don’t want to say that.”
The extensive strikes, which have claimed at least four lives and caused numerous injuries, suggest Putin may remain determined to subjugate Ukraine.
In the aggressive campaign, Putin deployed strategic nuclear bombers, like the Tu-95s and Tu-22s, deploying Kh-22 missiles among others.
Reacting to the scale of this offensive, NATO activated Polish and allied aircraft along its eastern boundary. According to Warsaw’s operation command.
“Attention, due to the attack of the Russian Federation performing strikes on facilities located, among others, in the west of Ukraine, the operation of Polish and allied aviation in our airspace has begun.”

Emergency power outages have been reported across the Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Poltava, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions. In Zaporizhzhia, Russia launched multiple strikes, including at least 18 Shahed drones, causing damage to infrastructure, a multi-storey building, and private residences.
One man was injured in these attacks.
Earlier, an attack on Odesa’s historic centre resulted in damage to the tsarist-era Hotel Bristol. Explosions have been recorded across the Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Kyiv, and Odessa regions.
According to some reports, the Vasylkiv military airfield, located 25 miles south of Kyiv, was also targeted.
Head of Volodymyr Zelensky’s office, Andriy Yermak, said: “Poltava, Odesa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia – attacks on residential buildings, on civilians, are typical tactics of the Russian army. They also even wipe out villages in their own Kursk region with people, shelling them with KAB [aerial bombs]….”
“The true face of Russia is this. Murderers who have absolutely no respect for any leader in the world, or any other nation. There’s only fear, which does not allow them to do the same in Europe. For now.”
