The Italians Trailer

“She’s not Italian, okay, she doesn’t want children, and now she insults my cooking?!” Uh oh, danger. An official trailer has debuted for an indie comedy called The Italians, the latest creation from the filmmaker Michelle Danner – who also stars in this as Angelina. The film originally premiered last year at the LA Italia Festival and it will be out on VOD to watch in April this spring. A traditional Italian-American family meets their sons new girlfriend, who is NOT Italian. Plenty of antics and arguments and comedy ensue. Danner adds this intro: “This is a deeply touching story about loving family, forgiving family and irresistible Italian food.” Grande! The indie comedy stars Abigail Breslin, along with Matthew Daddario, Lainie Kazan, Olivia Luccardi, David DeLuise, Perrey Reeves, Rob Estes, Michelle Danner, Luca Riemma, and Roger Gershman. This seems amusing and especially delicious – all this amazing Italian food being served throughout the film. Yes, I’d like to try some of her meatballs, please & thank you. It looks like a fun watch.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Michelle Danner’s comedy The Italians, direct from YouTube:

The Italians Poster

The Italians is about the Vitali Family, a traditional Italian-American family, as they meet their son’s new fiance who is definitely NOT Italian. “The Italians is a dramedy about love, forgiveness and the belief that people can change. These idiosyncratic characters are passionate about life and determined to live it to the fullest. It also marks the nostalgia of the passage of time. I hope people will laugh and be moved by the film and perhaps see some aspects of themselves because families are universal. They may also want to eat excellent Italian food after they see it but more importantly, I want them to hug their loved ones.” The Italians is directed by American acting coach / author / director Michelle Danner, director of the films How to Go Out on a Date in Queens, Hello Herman, The Bandit Hound, Bad Impulse, The Runner, and Miranda’s Victim previously. The screenplay is written by Lisa Phillips Visca. Produced by Valerie Debler, Brian Drillinger, Alexandra Guarnieri, and Michelle Danner. This initially premiered at the 2024 LA Italia Festival last year. Danner’s The Italians debuts direct-to-VOD starting April 11th, 2025. Look any good?
