Connecting pilgrimage and progress

A key feature of the expressway is its ability to link important pilgrimage sites. Stretching from Wardha to Sindhudurg, it will facilitate easier access for devotees and tourists, fostering spiritual tourism and driving economic growth in the region. The expressway will cover three religious sites- Tuljapur near Solapur, Mahalaxmi in Kolhapur and Patra Devi. The connectivity between Wardha and Sindhudurg will also enhance accessibility to various major pilgrimage sites, boosting spiritual and economic development.

Shaktipeeth Expressway Villages along the route

The expressway will traverse villages such as Sangavade, Sangavadewadi, Halasavade, Nerli, Vikaswadi, Kaneriwadi, Kaneri, Kogil Budruk, and Khebwade. This integration of rural areas is expected to spur economic opportunities and development in these regions.

Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway to be India’s longest

This expressway will rank among India’s longest highways, surpassing the 701-kilometer Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway. Beyond its physical expanse, it symbolizes a connection between cultural traditions and the economic aspirations of Maharashtra’s populace. The Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway’s achievement in becoming one of the longest in India extends beyond its length. It will act as a bridge between people, their religious traditions, and economic aspirations. Its scope extends beyond reducing travel times. By connecting districts, fostering economic development, and linking Nagpur and Goa, it aims to improve the quality of life for millions. This initiative is poised to be a transformative project for the state and its people.

Overcoming hurdles

The project has advanced despite facing several challenges. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed expedited land acquisition efforts, enabling the Rs 86,000-crore initiative to progress. The expressway, modeled after the Samruddhi Expressway, highlights the state’s dedication to improving infrastructure and reducing travel times.
