Avraham Tzvi Friedman, an IDF reservist from a Chabad family and father of 6 children, was killed in a terror shooting attack near Jenin on Tuesday, 6 Shevat, 5785.
He was 43.
Tzvika served in the 8211th Battalion, Ephraim Regional Brigade. A beloved husband and father of 6, he was a member of a distinguished Chabad family from Tzfas, Israel.
His father, Rabbi Moshe Yosef Friedman OBM, was one of the early and longtime residents of the Chabad community in Tzfas. He passed away about three years ago.
Tzvika was murdered in a terror attack in the early morning hours when a terrorist opened fire at soldiers stationed at an IDF checkpoint in Tayseer, in the Jenin area. The terrorist succeeded in injuring several IDF soldiers and murdering two reserve soldiers.
The name of the second soldier who was murdered was released earlier – Sergeant Major (Res.) Ofer Young HYD, 39 years old, from Tel Aviv.
Additionally, two reserve soldiers were seriously wounded in the incident, and six others were lightly injured. The injured soldiers were evacuated to receive medical treatment at a hospital, and their families have been updated. The terrorist was neutralized by soldiers on the ground.
According to a report on Ynet, the terrorist opened fire on the soldiers from a relatively close range. The IDF is investigating, among other things, how the terrorist reached such a close distance and whether he actually entered the small military compound where the IDF position was located.
Tzvika leaves behind his wife, Gal, and their six children; his mother, the owner of the “Teva Center” store in Kiryat Chabad Tzfas, as well as his siblings R’ Bentzion Friedman – Tzfas, Israel; R’ Yoel Friedman – Kfar Chabad, Israel; R’ Itzik Friedman – Tzfas, Israel; R’ Meni Friedman – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; R’ Shmulik Friedman – Lod, Israel; Mrs. Shlomit David – Shadmot Meholaת Israel; Mrs. Tami Weisberg – Tzfas, Israel.
