Delta initiates ground stop for Detroit Metro Airport flights

Delta Air Lines has initiated a ground stop for flights at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus, the airport alerted travelers on its website Friday, Dec. 5. It posted about the outage on X just after 7 a.m. ET.

The airline is experiencing a network outage affecting operations at the airport's McNamara Terminal. The issue is specific to Delta and not impacting other airlines at DTW.

As of 8:30 a.m. the Federal Aviation Administration's National Airspace System Status listed "medium" delays at the airport.

"Delta teams are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible with safety remaining our priority. We apologize for the inconvenience to our customers who should monitor the status of their flight via the Fly Delta app and Delta.com," a Delta spokesperson told USA TODAY, citing a "technical connectivity issue."

DTW also urged travelers to check their flight status with their airline before heading to the airport.
