Another round of snow is expected to impact the Louisville metro area with extreme, below freezing temperatures and gusty winds to follow this weekend.

A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Louisville for Jefferson County starting at 1 p.m. Dec. 13 through 7 a.m. Dec. 14.

Roughly 1-2 inches of snow accumulation is expected in Jefferson County, mainly along and north of Interstate 64, with higher amounts, up to 2-3 inches of snow, north of Interstate 71.

About 4.5 inches of snow previously fell in Louisville as of early Dec. 12, according to NWS reports.

The bulk of the snow is expected to accumulate between 3 p.m. Dec. 13 and 1 a.m. Dec. 14, creating potential for slick roads and hazardous travel, according to NWS Louisville.

Temperatures on the morning of Dec. 14 will be in the low teens and single digits. The wind chill is expected to be as low as 0 to –10 degrees. Those freezing temperatures are expected to continue through Dec. 15.

Dec. 13

Mainly after 4 p.m., a 30% chance of snow is predicted. The day will be cloudy, with a high near 34. Wind speeds could reach 3 to 6 mph. Snow is likely before 10 p.m., then there's a chance of flurries between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. At night, the skies will be cloudy and partly cloudy, with a low around 7. The wind chill is expected to be around -4 degrees. Wind speeds could reach 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Dec. 14

The day is expected to be sunny and cold, with a high near 15. The wind chill is predicted to be as low as -6 degrees, with wind speeds reaching 6 to 8 mph. At night, a low of 5 is expected with light and variable wind.

Dec. 15

The area will see a sunny day with a high near 30 degrees. Calm wind speeds could reach 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. At night, it's expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 21.

Dec. 16

The day is predicted to be mostly sunny, with a high near 40. At night, the skies will be partly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Dec. 17

The day will be partly sunny, with a high near 47. At night, rain is likely, mainly after 1 a.m. The skies will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

Dec. 18

During the day, the area will see rain showers with a high near 55. The chance of precipitation is 80%. At night, the chance of precipitation drops to 40% and the skies will be mostly cloudy with a low around 28.
