The closures will begin on the evening of Dec. 29 and will last until the afternoon of Jan. 4, officials said in a news release.
The closures will be in place for roads and sidewalks, including:

Taft Road Lane and Heatherhill Lane.
Northern and southern sidewalks on William Howard Taft Road from Collins Avenue to 1905 William Howard Taft Road.
Western and eastern sidewalks on Collins Avenue from William Howard Taft Road to under the U.S. Route 50/Columbia Parkway overpass.

Officials said residents should expect law enforcement to be posted at checkpoints in the area. Those who live within the closure zone will be able to access their homes through one of three marked security checkpoints.
The vehicle checkpoints will be located at William Howard Taft Road and Torrence Parkway, and at William Howard Taft Road and East McMillan Street. A pedestrian-only checkpoint will be at Riverside Drive and Collins Avenue.
Officials said drivers should use Torrence Parkway, Madison Road and Woodburn Avenue as detour routes while the closures are in effect.
"Please factor in extra time when traveling as a result of these security measures," the release states.
