“Did anything unusual happen?” “Other than my boss dying?” Netflix has unveiled a teaser trailer for The Residence, a whodunit comedy murder mystery mini-series set at the White House. Ready for streaming in March soon. 132 rooms. 157 suspects. 1 dead body. Uzo Aduba stars in The Residence, Shondaland’s new, unpredictable whodunnit set right inside The White House. Huh. This almost seems like Netflix’s comedic response to Hulu’s Paradise series, also about the President being killed featuring Sterling K. Brown getting wrapped up in conspiracies trying to find out why. But this time it’s more of a Knives Out-esque concept than a conspiracy thriller. The big ensemble cast includes Aduba as Cordelia Cupp, Giancarlo Esposito, Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Bronson Pinchot, Julieth Restrepo, Mel Rodriguez, Randall Park, Dan Perrault, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., & Mary Wiseman. This actually looks funny – Uzo slapping people around with many of her sly jokes.
Here’s the first teaser trailer for Netflix’s series The Residence, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:
132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner. The Residence is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion. The Residence is a series created & showrun by Paul William Davies (also of Scandal, For the People). With writing also by Paul William Davies. And featuring episodes directed by Jaffar Mahmood and Liza Johnson. Inspired by the book also titled “The Residence” written by Kate Andersen Brower. Executive produced by Paul William Davies, Shonda Rhimes, and Betsy Beers. Made by Davies Heavy Industries & Shondaland. Netflix will debut Davies’s The Residence series streaming on Netflix starting March 20th, 2025 coming up. First impression? Want to watch this?
