Hotel Greene – Atlas Obscura

Posted on

In what was once the rumored-to-be-haunted Hotel John Marshall in downtown Richmond, Virginia, now lives a fake hotel with an indoor miniature golf course. When you walk into Hotel Greene, you are transported to an unspecified 1930s Eastern European city hotel lobby. The antique rugs, key cubby filled with authentic letters and postcards, chandeliers, and huge oil painting of a lion above the fireplace are all elements of the fictional history of the hotel, which you can read on their website.

To the left of the lobby begins the 13-hole mini-golf course, which winds you through the library, bathhouse, eerie halls, and room 208. Sprinkled throughout the course are video installations and peepholes with miniature art installations on the other side. The vintage furniture, colorful carpeting, and twisting pathways evoke a sense of “romance, mystery, and unease.”
