The following is a message from Butte County School District Superintendent Joe Steele:
An urgent message from Butte County School District:
After speaking with the health department about the high number of illnesses in our students and staff, I was told that influenza is rapidly rising in our area as well as RSV.
Today we have 28% of our student body out with an illness. This is up from 22% yesterday. So, the next two days of school, Feb. 12 and 13, are being canceled to give students and staff time to get healthy. Friday school will also be canceled.
Custodians will be disinfecting and airing out the buildings.
