“Sometimes children are just born… different.” Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for an investigation series called Toxic Town, set in the UK a few years ago. From TV director Minkie Spiro, this new series will debut for streaming on Netflix later in the month. Based on a true story, a group of mothers fight for justice in the wake of one of the worst toxic waste scandals in UK history. The tragic toxic waste case in the East Midlands and three mothers fighting for the justice for the rates of upper limb defects in babies born in Corby were subsequently found to be three times higher than those of children born. This sounds terrifying. Toxic Town is a four-part limited series from Broke & Bones and multi-award-winning writer Jack Thorne. The series stars Jodie Whittaker (as Susan McIntyre), with Aimee Lou Wood, Rory Kinnear, Robert Carlyle, Brendan Coyle, Claudia Jessie, Joe Dempsie, Ben Batt, Lauren Lyle, Michael Socha, Stephen McMillan, Karla Crome, Matthew Durkan, Kobi Sadler, & Toby Eden. This looks chilling especially once they realize what is causing all of this but then discover it’s hard to stop it from continuing.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Minkie Spiro’s series Toxic Town, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:
Based on the real-life story of one of the UK’s biggest environmental scandals, Toxic Town is the story of the people at the heart of the Corby poisonings. Focusing on the mothers, who took on a David and Goliath battle for justice, the series traces through the years of their fight as a terrible truth comes to the surface. Toxic Town is a mini-series directed by TV filmmaker Minkie Spiro, director of episodes on the series “Dead to Me”, “The Village”, “The Plot Against America”, “Pieces of Her”, “3 Body Problem” previously. The screenplay is written by Jack Thorne, along with Amy Trigg. The series is produced by Delyth Scudamore, Patricia Tookey-Dickson. Made by Broke & Bones in the UK. Executive produced by Annabel Jones, Minkie Spiro, Charlie Brooker, Jack Thorne, and Euros Lyn. Netflix will debut the Toxic Town series streaming on Netflix worldwide starting February 27th, 2025 coming soon this winter. Anyone interested in watching?
