Ukraine was not informed about talks in Saudi Arabia and will not participate in or recognize them, says Zelensky — Meduza
Ukrainian officials were not informed about planned negotiations in Saudi Arabia, will not take part in them, and do not intend to recognize their outcome, said President Volodymyr Zelensky. He made the remarks during a video briefing from the United Arab Emirates, responding to reports of a meeting between Russian and U.S. representatives in Riyadh.
“Ukraine will not participate. Ukraine knew nothing about this. Ukraine considers any negotiations about Ukraine without Ukraine to be meaningless. We cannot recognize any agreements or decisions made about us without us. And we will not recognize such agreements,” Interfax Ukraine quoted Zelensky as saying.
Zelensky, who is currently on an official visit to the UAE, is set to travel to Saudi Arabia on February 18. He emphasized that his trip to Riyadh “has nothing to do with what is happening in Saudi Arabia at the level of U.S. and Russian representatives.”
